"When all seems lost, the journey has finally begun"

I am not sure where that quote comes from, but it sure is applicable to the last couple of days.  Yesterday I was uncertain about many of the things that we had planned.  But Brian Oberkirch from WeblogsWork came through with some cash to help cover the costs I had thought we were going to have to pay personally.  Chris and Blake from Huckabuck called and took on some more responsibilities in helping get things set on the ground. Then this morning, Eugene Eric Kim from Blue Oxen stepped up with a sponsorship to help cover the venue costs.  Then Christopher Carfi of Haystack/Cerado came through with a few more dollars. Then this afternoon, Brian hooked up with some friends over at Stormhoek to have them donate some wine to the event.  Quite a few excellent developments for one week out!

perhaps a Harrison story on origins of open space fits

perhaps a Harrison Owen story is due: he was studying in a library a lanky 20-something due to be an anglican priest; he can't remember how, but one day he found himself on a civil rights field; there he was in the midst of a crowd of African Americans with the police about to charge on them, somewhat afraid until a seven year old black girl came up to him and asked : Mister will you hold my hand?within a month he gave up studying to be a priest much to the chagrin of much of his family and within a decade or two, open space was born, and has now propagated through its 25 years of 50000 mapping coordinates (where its been staged, through thousands of alumni around what conflict resolving challenge seeding what open projects for humanity) No 7 year old black girl- no open space  -no unconferencing community??the os listserve is http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.htmland harrison 70 years young in 2006 lives in potomac MD
